Year 2006 as declared by Catholic Bishops conference in the Philippines(CBCP)is a year of social concern.Hence,the focus is the social teachings of the church,the Encyclicals and documents of the synod of Bishops on Labor,justice and peace ,development,liberation etc.
Im happy about this because the Catholic church as a whole becomes a catalyst of social transformation than being a reactive religious institution and so indifferent to social problems.
There is nothing wrong with focusing on our own sins and our own sanctification yet we as church people should also learn how to criticize the evils in our society which affects our people.
Here in the Philippines for example there are so many unjustified killings,summary executions committed to families who are suspected allies of New peoples Army(NPA)by the members of the Military that should or supposed to protect the civilians.Human Rights Advocate church people are not excused from this harassment by the Philippine Army.
It is only an oppurtune time,a kairos for church people to speak out.
