Greetings my brethren! This is my first post on our forum. I would like to take a moment to mention the new age, for I feel it is more prevalent than ever, infiltrating into the Christian faith more than ever and needs to be combated by the church’s clergy. Please post your thoughts.
We, as Catholics, must totally reject all methods of the “new age”, submitting ourselves to the Divine Providence of God by relying on the grace of our Lord for all healing and knowledge. There is no other source of salvation and peaces accept for our Lord. New age philosophies are merely satanic entrapments of false pagan belief systems which deny the divinity of Christ. Many of these devious practices include energy work, psychic entrapments, false delusions and practices which are incompatible with the Catholic faith….period. In regards to our spiritual practices we must rely on the gifts granted to us and maintained in the Church of Christ via the Holy Spirit made manifest through our canon of scripture, sacred tradition, the glorious fountains of grace known to us as the sacraments, personal and communal prayer and unwavering hope in our Lord.
"Men will surrender to the spirit of the age. They will say that if they had lived in our age, Faith would be simple and easy. But in their day, they will say, things are complex; the Church must be brought up to date and made meaningful to the day's problems. When the Church and the world are one these days are at hand. Because our Divine Master put a barrier between His things and the things of this world." (St. Anthony of the Desert, Disquisition CXIV.)
Also look at Saint Augustine……"Two cities have been formed by two loves: the earthly by the love of self, even to the contempt of God; the heavenly by the love of God, even to the contempt of self…." (St. Augustine, The City of God, XIV, 2
The advocates of the New Age seek perhaps more than ever the re-paganization of man.
They seek to dethrone Christ through their theosophical errors and falsehoods, their corrupt ambiguous systems of moral syncretism and corrupt humanism. They try to promote man and not God, trying to push their agenda of no such thing as an objective truth, truth is relative, man is the center of everything.
Remember that this is the history…that Christ calls and wants all beneath His standard, and Lucifer, on the other hand, wants all under his" (St. Ignatius of Loyola, Spiritual Exercises, n.136)
