My brothers and sisters,
In regards to attacks on the holy mass, the crisis of religious pluralism and our plight against liberal agendas remember something...
Christ explicitly said, “I am not of this World”. The gospel of John we read with our hearts after mass reflects this. The indefectible, supernatural character of the Church cannot err nor ever has. When people challenge you faith, spit on you and threaten you, do not despair. The world or man which is in opposition to the message of Christ will not prevail. Money, politics and worldly ventures take precedence over Christ in the hearts of many. Christ takes a backseat to man and his agenda then the spirit of the age has consumed many men, but still not the entire Church. Many souls will be caught up in this battle and will not properly discern what is of man and the devil and that which is of Christ. But remember what Christ said to his apostle Peter on his confession of faith. . “And I say to thee: That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church. And the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven” (Matt 16:18-19)
"When all the people in Babylon were worshipping the golden idol, the Three Holy Children did not condemn anyone to perdition. They did not concern themselves with the doings of others, but took care only for themselves, lest they should fall away from true piety. In precisely the same way, when Daniel was cast into the lion's den, he did not condemn any of those who, fulfilling the law of Darius, did not wish to pray to God, but he kept in mind his own duty, and desired rather to die than to sin against his conscience by transgressing the Law of God. God forbid that I should condemn anyone or say that I alone am being saved! However, I shall sooner agree to die than to apostatize in any way from the true Faith and thereby suffer torments of conscience." -From The Life of Our Holy Father St. Maximus the Confessor
To embrace Christ and His Church is anything but the norm, it will be anything but easy, but one can know that they are walking the proper path to eternal life. "Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life." (John 6:27)
Also remember what Saint Paul tells us. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand (Ephesians 6:12, 13). |
