Hello and blessings in Christ,
I'm not sure i asked this before, but is the Brazilian rite a modified Novus Ordo...? And the Portuguese version would be the same only in Portuguese...? Is there a possibility that an inquiring soul ( me!) could get a copy of the mass? Or be directed to where i could, perhaps, download it...? In studying liturgy, one finds the faith of a church; in my studies the comparison/ contrast between liturgical prayers not only reveals the faith, but the time periods in which the church inhabits...................thanks! joe
p.s. perhaps all i need is an explanation of the differences between the Brazilian/ Portuguese rites and the Novus Ordo. Again, pardon my ignorance............................joe |

Blessings, Joe!
The Brazilian Rite was instituted by Bishop Carlos Duarte Costa nearly two decades before Vatican II and the current Roman Rite. The Brazilian Rite is based on the liturgy of that time, the Tridentine Liturgy, in the vernacular, in this case, Portuguese. Certain parts have not changed, such as the Rites of Ordination, which are verbatim from the Pontificale and have not been changed in any way. The Patriarch uses the pre-Vatican II Rite of Oridination, without modification, to ensure a proper, valid ordination or consecration. _________________ Bishop Andre' Jhohn-William Queen, SCR
